Bake a Pie, Win a Prize

The second annual Pie Baking Contest returns by popular demand at the Olde Ellison Bay Days Celebration. Any pie baker is welcome to join the contest.

Registration forms and pie pans can be picked up at Savory Spoon Cooking School or Newport House Gallery in Ellison Bay or the Schoolhouse Artisan Cheese Shop in Egg Harbor. Registration forms must be submitted by June 20.

All fruit pies will be accepted for judging on June 24 by noon. Pies will be judged on appearance, taste, fruit-filling quality, pastry quality, and originality by this year’s slate of judges, which includes Mary Mead of the Shoreline Restaurant, Kris Seaquist of Seaquist Orchards, Jeni Tveten of Bea’s Ho-Made, and David Lea of Sweetie Pies.

The first place winner will receive a handmade pie plate from Ellison Bay Pottery; the second place winner will receive a pie-baking basket from The Cookbook; and the third place winner will receive a gift certificate from Bea’s Ho-Made Products.
