Baptiste Paul Steps in for Write On Gala

Award-winning author Baptise Paul will step in as the featured speaker at Write On, Door County’s Oct. 26 gala at the Kress Pavilion.

An author, speaker, environmentalist and activist, Paul is the award-winning author of children’s books, including: The Field, To Carnival; I Am Farmer: Growing an Environmental Movement in Cameroon; Peace and Climb On; and the recently released, Patchwork Prince

He loves writing stories inspired by his childhood in Saint Lucia and featuring words from his native language, Creole. Paul is also a mentor for the We Need Diverse Books initiative, and co-author of several works with author Miranda Paul. He lives in Wisconsin with his family.

Paul is stepping in for Faith Adiele, who was originally scheduled for a residency and keynote at the gala, but is unable to travel from her home in California due to an illness acquired in a recent trip to Africa.

The gala will celebrate 10 years of writing and storytelling through Write On. In addition to the featured speaker, the night will include dinner by Thyme restaurant, a silent auction of artwork including original watercolor paintings by the late writer Norbert Blei, and music from Cathy Grier.
