“Barn Doctor” To Speak At Ingwersen Gallery Oct. 8

Learn about the significance of the buildings on the Jim Ingwersen Gallery property with the help of Alan Pape, a nationally-recognized authority on historic preservation.

Nicknamed “The Barn Doctor,” Pape spent 20 years in the private historic restoration consulting practice, helping restore everything from log outhouses to 19th-century commercial buildings. Pape has worked with the Wisconsin Historical Society to help build Old World Wisconsin; restored an abandoned 40-acre farm in Upper Michigan, which is now open to the public as the Hanka Homestead Museum; and operated his own historic building recycling business, “Adaptive Restoration.” He was also an integral advisor to the restoration of the Ingwersen buildings.

In his presentation on Oct. 8, 1-3pm, at the Jim Ingwersen Gallery, 2029 Old Stage Road in Sister Bay, Pape will discuss the significance of the buildings on the property and how they were restored, as well as the history of Pomeranian Lutheran immigration to Liberty Grove.
