Beanie Babies Donated to EMTs

The Sturgeon Bay Masons and Order of Eastern Star donated Beanie Babies to serve as comfort items for patients. Submitted.

Door County EMTs received a donation of 50 teddy bear Beanie Babies from the Sturgeon Bay Masons and Order of Eastern Star. 

The Eastern Star’s Sonja Pinney said she learned from EMTs that stuffed animals help to calm children – especially young ones and those with Down syndrome and special needs – in emergency situations. Adults also find comfort when they have something other than their pain on which to focus their attention. Pinney also gave a similar donation to Toys for Tots in November.
