Ben Cohen to Lead Seed-Saving Workshop

The Door County Seed Library (facebook.com/DoorCountySeedLibrary) and seed activist, educator and author Ben Cohen will welcome fall with a special seed-saving workshop Sept. 19, 6-8 pm, at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay. “Seedy” treats and an optional pre-workshop tour of the Crossroads gardens will be offered at 5:30 pm.

Cohen will share seed stories at this fun and informative workshop while discussing the best methods for planting, saving and sharing seeds. The workshop will also include demonstrations of many seed-saving techniques and hands-on learning opportunities. The workshop is appropriate for beginners and experienced seed savers. Cohen owns Small House farm, a sustainable homestead project in Sanford, Michigan, that has grown seed crops for Baker Creek Heirloom Company, Annie’s Heirloom Seeds and Two Seeds in a Pod. He serves on the board of the International Herb Association and on the advisory council of the Community Seed Network, a multinational education and networking platform for seed savers.
