Bird Hikes, Nighttime Navigation Offered at The Ridges

Join fellow birding enthusiasts for an early morning Discovery Bird Hike, May 21 at 6:30 am. Or consider a Not-So-Early Bird Hike, May 21 at 9 am. Birders with all levels of experience are welcome. Bring your own binoculars, or use loaners supplied by The Ridges. Discovery and Not-So-Early Bird Hikes meet at The Ridges Cabins, 8288 County Q in Baileys Harbor, and are free for Ridges members. There is a $5 fee for the general public.

If your kids are curious about the amazing creatures that make their homes in the watery habitats of The Ridges, let them get up close and personal with tadpoles, whirligig beetles, dragonfly larvae and all manner of tiny critters at Bellies on the Boardwalk, May 21 at 2 pm. Children will use nets and buckets to scoop up wetland residents. Meet at The Ridges Cabins, 8288 County Q in Baileys Harbor. This program is designed for children ages 5 & up. Fees are $5/child for Ridges members and $8/child for the general public. Advance registration is strongly recommended.

Navigating at night in the 1800s was radically different from the present day. Nighttime Navigation, May 21 at 7:30 pm, invites you to experience the Sanctuary as it was back then and learn what it took to pilot boats into Baileys Harbor using only the Range Lights and celestial cues. Meet at the Cook-Fuller Center, 8166 Hwy 57 in Baileys Harbor. Program fees are $10 for Ridges members, $13 for the general public and $5 for children and students under 18.
