Birding Programs at the Ridges Sanctuary

Warblers, shorebirds, raptors and bluebirds are just a few of the species to be seen at The Ridges Sanctuary in Baileys Harbor as they continue the regular schedule of bird hikes and programs.

Discovery Bird Hikes are held every Saturday in June and July from 6:30 – 8:30 am. There will also be a hike offered on June 9 at 9 am. Hikes begin at the Ridges Nature Center on County Q and are designed for beginning and experienced birders. Local birders lead the hikes, and participants will be involved in discovering and identifying various species. Groups will walk or carpool to various areas in and around the Ridges Sanctuary. Hikes are free for Ridges members and $5 for the general public.

Families can see bluebirds nesting during the Early Birders June program, Along the Bluebird Trail, also on June 9 at 10 am. This is a great opportunity to take photos of these migratory birds. Participants meet at Marshall Cabin. The fee is $15 a family for Ridges members and $20 a family for the general public.

Guided nature hikes are offered throughout June, July and August, from Tuesday – Friday at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm; and on Saturday at 9:30 am. Guided hikes are $5 for Ridges members and $8 for the general public.
