Book Recommendation: “The Ball at Versailles” by Danielle Steel

Recommended by BARB HUSCH, Forestville Library Branch Manager

It’s 1959 in Paris. A ball is to be held at the Palace of Versailles for a select group of debutantes.

Four American girls have been invited to the ball, but none of them feel that they belong there and must be convinced by their parents to attend. As the novel unfolds, the girls make connections that transcend the time and place in which they met.

I found the book to be a very enjoyable read for a winter night, with interesting descriptions of clothes, mindsets and lifestyles.
