Booyah Lunch at the Belgian Heritage Center

The Belgian Heritage Center will serve a booyah-and-bread lunch April 23, 11 am – 1 pm. Booyah, a hearty soup that’s typically cooked in outdoor kettles, is a traditional dish and a mainstay at gatherings in the Belgian settlement area.

The menu of booyah, bread, desserts and a beverage is $12 for adults, $8 for children ages 4-12, and free for children 3 and younger. Takeout booyah will be sold for $10 per quart starting at 12 pm.

Attendees can also browse the center’s exhibits, which tell the story of Southern Door’s Belgian settlement area, and explore the campus, which includes the 1894 schoolhouse and convent.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Belgian Heritage Center, 1255 Cty DK in Brussels, in its mission to preserve and promote the area’s culture, history and architecture.
