Boys Baseball: Clippers Edged Out By Spartans

Sturgeon Bay stayed close with Luxemburg-Casco, but ended up losing Thursday night’s non-conference baseball game at Memorial Field, 2-1.

The Clippers didn’t score until the bottom of the seventh inning when Bryce Plzak drove in a run.

Plzak, Danny Lodl and Braylon LaRoche each singled to account for Sturgeon Bay’s three hits.

Ian Fruzyna pitched the first 6 1/3 innings in recording the loss, allowing both runs on three hits with three walks and a hit batter while striking out five. Plzak closed out the final two-thirds of an inning.

The Clippers, who dropped to 3-2 overall and are 3-1 in the Packerland Conference, play Saturday in Gillett before their next league doubleheader Tuesday at Algoma.
