Capture the County’s Winter Landscape

Many brave souls come from far and wide to attend the Peninsula School of Art’s annual Winter Landscape Workshop from Jan. 16 – 18 to capture, what some say is, Door County at its most breathtaking. At moments one can have glimpses of what Shackleton may have experienced in Antarctica.

With the teaching team of master photographer Dan Anderson and Suzanne Rose, this experience invites photographers to step outside their comfort zones and go beyond the ordinary. Even with bone-chilling winds blowing off the waters of Fish Creek at dusk, the workshop group is never deterred. With temperatures usually hovering just above zero, Door County’s finest vistas prove to be quite photo-worthy in this winter season.

The snow covered landscape is pristine this time of year permitting this workshop to explore unsullied ice formations on shorelines, dancing trees frozen in gossamer ice, Lake Michigan at dawn rocking with islands of pancake ice and more. With greatly varying weather conditions a diverse portfolio of winter images are attainable over this short but fulfilling workshop.

If the above workshop fills, Peninsula School of Art will take names to add to a waiting list for a second workshop to be offered Jan. 23 to 25. Because Anderson will head to the Antarctic during this time – the second workshop will be lead only by Rose.

The cost is $300 for members and $325 for nonmembers. For more information or to register call 920.868.3455 or visit suzannerose.com or danielandersonphotography.com.
