Car Crashes through Empty Family Video Building in Sturgeon Bay

Following Tuesday evening’s dusting of snow, a 29-year-old man from a foreign country who had never driven in snow before got his first introduction. He was driving on Egg Harbor Road in Sturgeon Bay when he went careening over a snowy curb and down the sloping parking lot of the empty Family Video store next to the Pizza Hut. The vehicle crashed into the side of the building and pushed through the front of the store.

The man walked away from the accident uninjured, despite the totaled condition of the vehicle.

“The officer believes he may have hit the accelerator rather than the break and went right through the building and drove out,” said Sturgeon Bay Assistant Police Chief Dan Brinkman.

The man was issued a simple traffic citation for failure to maintain control over the vehicle.
