Celebrating Local Heroes Serving in AmeriCorps

The service of the 250,000 Americans who are engaged in AmeriCorps programs was honored March 13-19.

Matthew Smith of Ephraim began serving in AmeriCorps’ full-time National Civilian Community Corps (americorps.gov/nccc) in the fall of 2021 at the Pacific Region campus in Sacramento, California, and he will graduate from the program in June.

Smith is completing a series of six- to 12-week-long team service projects within his region to support disaster relief, the environment, infrastructure improvement, energy conservation, and urban and rural development.
