Ceramic Pumpkin Demo At Artzy Studio

On Sept. 30, 2-4pm, at Artzy Studio, 10329 Hwy 42 in Ephraim, artist Cynthia Koshalek will show how she creates ceramic pumpkins using handbuilding techniques. She will demonstrate how to use pinch and coil methods to create unique pumpkin shapes, and how to add details and texture to the finished artwork with a variety of tools. 

Koshalek uses underglaze transfers to add floral highlights to her work, which are then handpainted to appear three-dimensional. Finally, she applies an overall glaze, which can transform the ceramic piece from a dull gray shape to a beautiful work of fall art.
