Charles ‘Chick’ Peterson Presents New Work at Cottage Row

Renowned Door County artist Charles L. Peterson will be featured at Cottage Row Gallery July 29 – Aug. 12. The exhibit opens July 29 with a “meet-the-artist” reception from 10 am – 1 pm. Come and meet Mr. Peterson, browse his artwork, socialize and enjoy some light refreshments.

The exhibit features a collection of new original paintings as well as a wonderful selection of recent watercolors, pencil drawings and interesting pieces using a combination of ink and gouache on a toned board. Peterson’s books Of Time and Place and Reflections will also be available as well as his notecards and a large selection of his signed and numbered limited edition prints.

Peterson lives and paints in Door County, where he moved in 1973 following a 20-year career as an art professor at Marietta College. Long respected by the serious art community for his masterful work with watercolor, his Memories Collection brought him unprecedented national popularity in signed and numbered limited-edition reproductions. He is also widely known for his maritime paintings, having repeatedly won prizes at Mystic Seaport Maritime Museum’s International Competitions, where he is listed among their Modern Maritime Masters. This year, Peterson celebrated his 90th birthday. The Miller Art Museum has used this occasion to produce an exhibit surveying a lifetime of work from Peterson.

The exhibit, open to the public, is on display in the main gallery of the museum July 22 – Sept 5. Cottage Row Gallery is located at 9197 Hwy 42, a half-mile south of Fish Creek at Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery. The gallery is open daily 10 am – 5 pm and Sundays 10 am – 4 pm.
