Cottage Row Framing & Gallery Features Charles L. Peterson

Natural light streams through the windows of Cottage Row Framing & Gallery, and the whitewashed walls of the 100-year-old barn serve as the perfect canvas for exhibiting artwork. It is against this backdrop that Cottage Row Framing & Gallery will feature the paintings of renowned artist Charles L. Peterson during a special Memorial Weekend One Man Show.

This show will include a special “meet the artist reception” on Saturday, May 23, from 10 am – 1 pm. Peterson will be available to sign his books and visit with guests. On exhibit for this special weekend event will be 27 new Peterson paintings, which will include watercolors, pencil drawings, and ink and gouache. Refreshments will be served during the artist reception.

A Door County resident since 1973, Peterson has established a national and international reputation for his paintings and limited edition prints. A Marietta College professor and department head for 20 years, Peterson has applied his classical training to genre painting, his brush strokes illuminating the lives of ordinary people doing ordinary things, most often in historical settings. Peterson’s interest in nature – particularly the sea – is evident throughout his work. A lifelong sailor, water has been a dominating theme in his paintings and illustrations.

In addition to Charles L. Peterson, Cottage Row Framing & Gallery features Wisconsin artists Jack Anderson, Kay McKinley, Bridget Austin, Michael Bond, Jim Davel, Marianne Diekman, Kathy Glasnap, Mary Johnson, June Maeder, and Mark VanderVinne.

Cottage Row Framing & Gallery will host “A Few of My Favorite Things,” featuring pastel artist Kay McKinley Arneson on Saturday, June 27, and “Something New,” the watercolors of Bridget Austin on Saturday, August 1.

Located a half mile south of Fish Creek in the big red barn at Orchard Country Winery & Market, Cottage Row Framing & Gallery is open during the summer Monday through Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm, and Sundays from 10 am – 3 pm through October. For more information call 920.868.2626.
