Naturalist Charlotte Lukes will present several bluebird-nesting programs this month.
The first program will be held March 14, 10 am, at The Ridges’ Cook-Albert Fuller Nature Center. A slide program will precede nest-box building. Call 920.839.2802 or visit ridgessanctuary.org to learn more and register. Checks for the nest-box building should be made payable to The Ridges Sanctuary.
Lukes will also host bluebird programs March 21, 10 am, at Newport State Park; and March 28, 10 am, at Crossroads at Big Creek. Her slide program will show which birds are blue and how to distinguish them from the actual eastern bluebird. Lukes will also discuss other species that can use a nest box, show several nest-box designs, and share tips on properly placing and monitoring the boxes to help bluebirds and other cavity-nesting birds to succeed.
Both programs are free, but a park sticker is required for the Newport program.
