“Cheesehead Devotional” Author Wins Best New Writer Award

Local author Judy DuCharme, of Ellison Bay, recently won Best New Writer 2013 at the Write to Publish Conference in Wheaton, Ill. The conference is held annually and celebrated its 40th year of assisting writers to meet publishers, editors, and agents in order to improve the craft and heart of writing. The retired Gibraltar teacher was honored for her book The Cheesehead Devotional, published by Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas.

In presenting the award at the Saturday banquet, Lin Johnson, director of Write to Publish, stated that DuCharme, “definitely knows her audience, kept her devotionals tightly focused, (and) followed through well on the theme and imagery she created in the beginning. Judy’s book skillfully ties quotes and facts from Green Bay Packer history to spiritual principles…What a delightful read! And the designation that this is the ‘Kickoff Edition’ indicates there will be more volumes to follow, which readers will surely welcome.”

Sara White, wife of late Green Bay Packer Reggie White, wrote the forward, and The Cheesehead Devotional is endorsed by Bonita Favre, Brett Favre’s mother, and Wayne Larrivee, the voice of Packer Radio.
