Cherry Will Drop New Year’s Eve in Sister Bay

The third annual FM 106.9 the Lodge Cherry Drop will return to Sister Bay during an evening of celebration to greet the new year. Think of the ball drop in New York’s Times Square, but then imagine a roughly 300-pound cherry with red lights, a stem and leaves that’s hoisted more than 150 feet above Husby’s Food & Spirits and lowered during the countdown to midnight.

The evening’s activities will begin at 10:30 pm when FM 106.9 the Lodge plays the biggest party tunes of all time and broadcasts live from both Husby’s and the Sister Bay Bowl. The Village of Sister Bay will offer family-oriented activities earlier in the night and a fireworks show.

“From families to couples, out-of-state visitors to Door County locals, we’re delighted to be able to welcome those of you celebrating the New Year to Sister Bay and to Door County” said Louise Howson, the Sister Bay Advancement Association coordinator for the event.

The Cherry Drop will take place regardless of weather conditions and is expected to pack the street with about 3,000 people. You may also watch event coverage on WFRV Local 5 as part of its live and local New Year’s Eve celebration, broadcast 10 pm – 12:15 am.
