Clippers Defeat NEW Lutheran in Girls Soccer

Sturgeon Bay’s girls soccer team overcame the wind and a one-goal deficit Thursday to defeat NEW Lutheran 3-1 in Green Bay.

The Blazers took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute on a goal by Lexi Dhein.

The Clippers’ Yarrow Goettleman tied the game in the 33rd minute with an assist by Alexis Olson. 

Sturgeon Bay took the lead in the second half when it scored a pair of goals.

Paula Wienke scored assisted by Maddy Hemminger and then Hemminger scored on a 30-yard direct kick for the final goal.

Hadley Gigstead made five saves in goal for the Clippers. Cassidy Gallagher recorded six saves for NEW Lutheran.

Sturgeon Bay, which won its second consecutive game to improve to 5-3-1, is next scheduled to play Friday night at Green Bay East.
