Clippers Run over Truckers in Girls Soccer

Sturgeon Bay’s girls soccer team found the back of the net multiple times Tuesday night when the Clippers won 9-1 over Clintonville at Clark Field.

Five different players scored for Sturgeon Bay led by junior Alexis Olson, who tallied four goals and three assists. Freshman Yarrow Goettelmann added two goals. Senior Scarlet Serafico tallied a goal and two assists, while senior Emma Reinhardt and sophomore Hayden Luders each scored a goal.

“We focused on quality passes and communicating on the field all week during practice, and our players improved in both areas tonight,” said Clippers head coach Robert Desotelle. “Our subs also played quality minutes again [in] this game, which is huge.”

Sturgeon Bay’s goalkeeper, Isabella Jimenez-Seyfer, recorded two saves.

Clintonville’s lone goal was scored unassisted by Gracie Steede.

The game was stopped in the 76th minute by mercy rule.

Up next for the Clippers, who improved their overall season record to 2-1, are road games Thursday at Seymour and Friday at Kiel.
