Wandering along Plum Bottom Road near Lost Lake in July, this little kitten could have easily come to a sad end. Fortunately, she was spotted and brought into the humane society as an 8-week-old baby.

Door County Dental Care, in a covert effort to fight cavities, is once again holding its Kids’ Halloween Candy Buy Back Event. Area children are encouraged to bring in their extra Halloween candy to Door County Dental Care, and will be paid $1 per pound of candy.

Neighbor-to-Neighbor Volunteer Caregivers of Door County is holding its fifth annual Rib Fest on Nov. 2 at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club. Doors open at 4:30 pm for cash bar and silent auction, with serving from 5:30 – 7 pm or until ribs are gone.

The Rotary Club of Door County North is helping out The Ridges Sanctuary this year by multiplying donations through inter-club involvement. Through the end of the year, a private individual who is a Rotary member in Illinois will match donations received from other Rotary members.

How Sister Bay Fall Festival Got Its Start
At age 95, long-time Sister Bay resident Lester Berns likely remembers as many of the town’s fall festivals as anyone. He and his brother, Robert, started a lumberyard there in 1941, returned to the business after four years in service during World War II and operated it until 1970.
