Crossroads of Door County Hosts Various Programs

Crossroads at Big Creek will continue offering programming and educational opportunities throughout September.

September 10 from 8:30 am – 2 pm, the Wellness Center of Door County will host a day of education and empowerment regarding breast health and cancer prevention. Four dynamic speakers will explore issues of breast health and the environment during the conference, entitled “Empowerment and Cancer Risk Reduction.” A catered lunch will be served. September 11 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm, the Crossroads will present “School Bus Day.” Participants will have the opportunity to climb onto an antique school bus and visit the historical village. At 2 pm, retired school superintendent Carl Scholz will present a talk on the “History of School Transportation in Door County.” The event is free and open to the public.

September 12 at 3:30 pm, a family program entitled “Meet the Wolf” will feature film and activities to introduce learners of all ages to this mysterious creature.

Also at 3:30 pm, a family program will take place at the Garden Gate in the Historical Village. Families will enjoy the insect visitors and perhaps harvest a few carrots.

September 14 at 7 pm the Door County Environmental Council will bring Dr. Roger Kuhns to Crossroads to explain the concepts that enable urban homeowners to grow food within their own neighborhoods. The presentation, entitled “Bring the Food Source Back Home,” will describe how areas are currently being utilized for common-shared gardening.
