Crossroads Offers Programming and Hikes

Crossroads at Big Creek will be closed the Fourth of July, but many events are still scheduled for the rest of the week.

On July 1 at 1 pm, join naturalist Joel Kaminski for an interpretive hike through the scenic Ida Bay Preserve. The hike is an hour long and is of moderate difficulty. Hikers should meet at the parking lot in the Buffalo Ridge Trail/Canal Road intersection.

Monday through Thursday Crossroads’ summer educators offer activities for learners of all ages in and near the Collins Learning Center at 10 am. These family programs are free and open to the public and generally last about an hour. The following are dates, times and topics of upcoming programs: July 5, “Fossils! Leave No Stone Unturned,” learn about the creatures that once lived here millions of years ago; July 6, “Mammals Like Us,” choose a Door County animal from the wildlife exhibit and learn about its special life; July 7, “Insect Safari,” hike into the fields and forests with collecting nets to find the insects and their hiding places.

The Collins Learning Center, located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay (just beyond the roundabout), is open 12-3 pm daily and during scheduled activities. For more information visit crossroadsatbigcreek.com.
