DCA to Donate “Before I Die” Exhibit

After a five-month run, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will donate their most recent Link Gallery exhibit back to the community. DCA Executive Director Cari Lewis said, “We have received enthusiastic feedback from this exhibit and wish to pay it forward to keep the momentum going. By offering these panels to local businesses and public spaces, we hope to see locals and visitors alike offering up their hopes, dreams, and aspirations throughout our community.”

The exhibit, entitled “Before I Die,” consists of chalkboards bearing the repeated phrase “Before I die I want…” followed by blank spaces. This summer, visitors to the auditorium were invited to write their own dreams in the blanks.

“Before I Die” was created by artist Candy Chang on an abandoned house in her neighborhood in New Orleans. Today, over 200 “Before I Die” walls have been created in over 15 languages and in over 40 countries.

The “Before I Die” chalkboard panels will be given away on a first come, first serve basis, with priority given to public spaces. Interested parties should call or email Jennifer DuPont at 920.868.2728 or [email protected].

Currently on display through January at the Link Gallery are Zen Mandalas by Gibraltar sixth and seventh graders.

The Link Gallery is located in the Door Community Auditorium at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. Exhibits are free and open to the public.
