DCMC Flag-Raising Honors Donate Life Month

On April 14, Door County Medical Center (DCMC) will join with dozens of other Wisconsin hospitals, businesses and community organizations to participate in a statewide Donate Life flag-raising ceremony and period of silence that promote the mission of organ and tissue donation and honor donors and their families.

The event will begin at 1 pm with remarks by Christa Krause, chief nursing officer; and Jaime Kasten of the emergency department. A prayer of remembrance and thanksgiving from chaplain Catherine Heimbecher will follow. Jim Meyer, a heart-transplant recipient, will raise the Donate Life flag at 1:08 pm – in recognition of the fact that one donor can save eight lives – and a moment of silence will follow. Meyer will offer remarks, and Brian Stephens, DCMC’s president and CEO, will provide closing remarks. A reception will follow in the gift-shop lobby.

Find out about organ and tissue donation at the donor-registration table at the flag-raising ceremony, or visit donatelife.net/donation/statistics.
