DCU Boys Swimmers 8th at Cedarburg Invite

The Door County United (DCU) cooperative boys swimming team placed eighth out of 16 teams competing Saturday at the Cedarburg Invitational.

“Some of these teams we won’t see again until state, and it was nice to get a look at what we’re coming up against in [Division 1],” said DCU head coach Erin Peterson. “We will meet back with Plymouth and Berlin in a few weeks at the conference championship, and it’s anyone’s for the taking right now.”

DCU, which tallied 115 points, finished behind Plymouth in seventh with 139 points and ahead of Berlin in 10th with 40 points.

The meet’s top-five teams included Verona (392.5), Whitefish Bay (344), West Bend (259) Shorewood (239.5) and Arrowhead (221).

DCU’s nine swimmers at the meet combined for five top-eight finishes.

Race Kasten finished sixth in the 100 backstroke in another season-best time of 59.08.

Logan Filar placed seventh in the 50 freestyle (23.83).
