DCU Boys Swimmers Fifth at Plymouth Invite

The Door County United (DCU) cooperative boys swimming team placed fifth out of eight teams at the Dec. 3 Plymouth Invite.

Sheboygan North topped the team standings with 487 points, followed by Green Bay United (362), Manitowoc Lincoln (357), Plymouth (250) and DCU (215) rounding out the top five.

DCU freshman Jack Monfils recorded the team’s only first-place finish with his best time of the season to win the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 6.33 seconds.

Monfils also finished runner-up in the 200 individual medley in 2:14.41, while sophomore teammate Logan Filar added a fifth-place finish in 2:20.89.

Filar also placed fifth in the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 1:02.82.

DCU’s other two top-eight individual finishes were recorded by freshman Colton Blackley, who placed seventh in the 50 freestyle (25.52) and eighth in the 100 backstroke (1:08.56).

DCU also recorded top-five finishes in the three relay events, in which a field of 13 competed.

Monfils, Filar and juniors Ezra Linnan and Branden Neubauer placed fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:53.24).

Neubauer, Monfils, Blackley and sophomore Tre Wienke finished fifth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:47.27).

Linnan, Blackley, Filar and freshman George Atwell came in fifth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:53.32).

Up next for DCU is a home meet Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. on Parents Night at the Door County YMCA’s Carla and Ellsworth Peterson Aquatic Center in Sturgeon Bay.
