DCU’s Jack Monfils in Top 10 at State

Door County United (DCU) sophomore boys swimmer Jack Monfils recorded the team’s only top-10 finish at Friday’s WIAA Division 2 state meet at Waukesha South High School.

Monfils placed ninth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:00.86) and 11th in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.17).

He also joined seniors Ezra Linnan and Logan Filar and freshman Luke Filar for a 16th-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:46.26).

Monfils individually accounted for 15 of DCU’s 17 team points, which tied for 24th place out of 32 Division 2 teams closing out the season at the state meet.

“It was a brilliant season, and there are so many huge moments to celebrate,” said DCU head coach Erin Peterson. “In spite of insurmountable challenges, this team proved their strength and fortitude time and time again.”

McFarland won the Division 2 team title with 325 points, followed by Rhinelander (243) and Whitefish Bay (222) rounding out the top three.
