DCUTA Holds Informational Meeting on their Campaign Finance Reform Initiative

Door County-United to Amend (DCUTA) is holding an informational meeting on their Campaign Finance Reform Initiative on April 11, 5:30 – 7 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County in Ephraim. DCUTA, a nonpartisan local organization, will give an overview of how unlimited contributions and influence became legal, how it weakens the people’s voice, and offer a way to fight back. DCUTA is working to get local municipalities to speak out on the issue through resolution and/or referendum. The group is asking local officials to join 97 other Wisconsin municipalities (including Sturgeon Bay) and officially call upon locally elected state representatives and the Wisconsin State Legislature to hold a statewide referendum which simply states: money is not free speech, and therefore, campaign spending can be regulated; and only human beings are entitled to individual constitutional rights — not corporations, unions, or political action groups.
