Destroyers Continue Dominance

The Door County Destroyers continued their early season dominance in beating the Dodge County Braves on Saturday, Aug. 23, by a score of 56-7. The offense was again on point as they racked up the touchdowns for a 42-0 lead going into halftime.

Quarterback Alex Whitney was 7-8 for 213 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Troy Prill led the running attack with 84 yards on five carries, including a 40-yard run for a touchdown. Receivers Andre Wilson (three catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns) and Steve Peters (two catches for 79 yards and one touchdown) cashed in on the majority of Whitney’s passes for the afternoon.

Defensive End Bryan Beachler led the defense as he racked up two sacks and a blocked punt that he scooped up and returned for a touchdown. Linebacker Troy Prill was also impressive as he led the defense with four tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown.

The Destroyers are now 4-0 in league play and have a league bye this Saturday, Aug. 30. Door County will take on the Jackson County Wildcats in week 6 at Black River Falls High School.
