Diedrick to Host “Recyclable Art” Activity

On Saturday, August 23, Wisconsin artist Renee Diedrick will host “Recyclable Art,” a special children’s activity, in conjunction with her current exhibition “Old with New: Found Treasures.” The activity will be held at 10:30 am in Gallery 242, located on the lower level of the Fairfield Art Center, and it is open free to the public.

In “Recyclable Art,” Diedrick will teach participating children to create personalized picture frames with paint, beads, buttons, soda caps and other recyclable materials. Each child will be able to take home his or her unique creation.

“Renee incorporates mixed media, acrylic paints and ‘found objects’ into her own artwork, so we were delighted that she wants to share her expertise and vision with our community’s children,” says Shan Bryan-Hanson, the Fairfield’s artistic director. “Renee has found inspiration in American folk art, and she teaches children to do the same – to see the potential in their environment and to create something truly unique by using the materials that surround them every day.”

Diedrick, a Wrightstown native, earned a degree in art education and Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and has years of experience managing art programs and working with children.

“My goal as an artist is to create original pieces of artwork that anyone can afford to own (and) to inspire others, especially children, to create from their heart,” she says.

Due to the nature of the art activity, “Recyclable Art” will be limited to 20 children. To reserve a spot for your child, call the Fairfield at 920.746.0001.

Renee Diedrick’s “Old with New: Found Treasures” will run in Gallery 242 through Saturday, August 30.
