DIY Bikes Stations in Fish Creek

Door County’s abundant local, county and state parks, diverse shoreline and charming back roads entice cyclists to explore. In response to the increasing numbers, the Door County Visitor Bureau is encouraging businesses to install complimentary do-it-yourself bicycle maintenance service stations. These stations provide the opportunity for cyclists to check the air in their tires and use the tools provided to perform mechanical adjustments.

A DIY bicycle maintenance station is now located at Peninsula Park-View Resort on the corner of County A and Hwy. 42, across from the Highland Road entrance to Peninsula State Park. Ron and Carole Vande Walle want to encourage the use of pedal bikes in Door County, so they decided to sponsor this station. Ron, a former tech-ed teacher and craftsman, designed and created this DIY station, which he attached to the main building. Heidi Atanasov, owner of 2forU Design and Gallery in Fish Creek, designed a custom logo to inform cyclists that a maintenance station is available.

Two other DIY stations are located in Fish Creek, one across from the main entrance into Peninsula State Park at Nor Door Sport & Cyclery and the other at Edge of Park rentals.
