Don’t Let Your Pumpkin Go to Waste

Door Community Compost Initiative (DCCI), an organization dedicated to educating and inspiring the community about the benefits of composting, encourages you to keep your pumpkins out of the landfill in the Post-Halloween Pumpkin Drive.

Each year, millions of pumpkins meet a ghastly fate in landfills, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and wasting valuable resources. DCCI believes that there’s nothing scarier than a pumpkin going to a landfill. As a solution, they are calling on the community to join their Post-Halloween Pumpkin Drive and compost their pumpkins instead.

Participating compost sites are located at Gathering Ground on Washington Island, Liberty Grove Historical Society, Hidden Acres Farm, Village of Egg Harbor, Gardner, Mighty Wind Farms, Boreal Preserve, Waseda Farms, Under an Acre Farm, and 57 Farm Store. Check with locations for preferred drop-off times.
