Door County Appreciation Night Kicks-off Steel Bridge Songfest

Holiday Music Motel is the headquarters of Steel Bridge Songfest and will feature performances throughout the four-day festival.

While artists from all over the country and the world will converge upon the city of Sturgeon Bay to perform in Steel Bridge Songfest (SBSF), Door County certainly has no shortage of talent. SBSF is proud to announce the participation of over 50 talented local songwriters and performers.

Each year, Steel Bridge puts out a call for interested musicians who want to perform their original material at the festival. Anyone interested in performing original material or getting involved in the songwriting portion of the festival is welcome to participate (advance registration is required, but late submissions are accepted based on availability).

As a way of saying “thank you” to the community that has supported them for nine consecutive years, SBSF kicks off on June 13 with Door County Appreciation Night. The annual opening day of the festival is free and open to the public, with no passes required at any participating venues.

“A lot of Door County people work weekends in hospitality – bartenders, wait staff, etc. Thursday being free makes it a little easier for some of them to take in at least part of the festival,” says pat mAcdonald, co-founder and Creative Director of the fest.

Some highlights for the opening day are the annual Construction Zone songwriters showcase; the return of The Legendary Sons of Crack Daniels featuring Eric McFadden and pat mAcdonald; Wisconsin-based bands Fun With Atoms, Mad Mad Ones, Daphni, A Minute Jack Forum, and Dead Modern Villains; and WAMI Nominees Annie B and Delta Routine.
