Door County Art League Holds Potluck, Plans for 2009

Monday, Oct. 27, Door County Art League (DCAL) members will get together to socialize at a potluck dinner beginning at 6 pm at the Gibraltar Fire Department meeting room. The public is invited; please bring a dish to pass, a plate and eating utensils. Following the potluck, at 7 pm, members and interested parties are asked to share their thoughts and ideas for next year.

Furthermore, because of the membership growth of the league and the expansion of projects, such as the gallery, another, very important, item on the agenda will be a discussion of a proposed change to the governing board. The current members of the board believe that a restructure will offer new opportunities for members to become involved in the organization and give them more of a voice.

Other topics for the evening will be a review of this year’s exhibits, including the 22nd Annual Fall Juried Exhibit and Master’s Presentation, currently at Trattoria Dal Santo in Sturgeon Bay, and the League’s three “Art in the Barn” shows, along with the upcoming winter exhibit at Gallery Ten in Gills Rock. Owner Charlene Berg will host the show from December 6, 2008, until February 21, 2009. Hours are weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 10 am –5 pm. During the exhibit period, two cookie receptions are scheduled.

The October 27 bring-a-dish gathering is an important function, as members and interested persons are encouraged to share their thoughts on how the league can better serve the Arts and the arts community. The Gibraltar Fire Department is located at 3496 County Road F in Fish Creek. For more information on the league, visit http://www.doorcountyartleague.org or call JoAnne Rosenfeld at 920.559.7530.
