Door County Art Scene: Holiday Bazaar at the Gallery of the Door County Art League

“Instant Christmas Tree” by Sally Everhardus.

Several members of the Door County Art League will hold a Holiday Bazaar at the gallery in Fish Creek from 10 am – 5 pm, Saturday and Sunday, December 13 and 14. The public is invited to meet and mingle with the artists, enjoy refreshments, and complete their holiday shopping with unique handmade gifts.

Many varied items will be for sale, including glassware, ornaments, jewelry, paintings, photography, holiday cards, pressed flower art, and folk art dolls, angels, and Santas.

Among those participating are the following:

Beverly Hart Branson will be showing pen and ink drawings, paintings in watercolor, watercolor and ink, and acrylic. She will, in addition, have miniature works of fanciful birds and flowers and notecards with winter and garden scenes on view.

Fused glass artists, Barbara and Doug Henderson, will display a variety of glass plates, dishes, and holiday ornaments. Barbara Henderson will also present her original collectible folk art dolls, angels, and Santas dressed with vintage fabrics and lace.

Mary Gehm makes original pressed flower art out of botanicals, which she collects, dries, presses, and arranges. She will also have available holiday cards, with reproductions of the original pressed flower art on them, in convenient five-card packages and individually wrapped gift cards.

Sally Everhardus will be exhibiting her exuberant wearable art pins, several different sets of cards with Door County scenes, flowers, barns and other depictions of life in the “Door,” and innovative “Instant Christmas Trees” that are “Giving Trees,” as well as decorative pieces. All of the trees’ ornaments may be worn as holiday jewelry, given as gifts, or remain as decorations on the wall-hung trees.

Photographer Keith Wickert plans to show small prints, sized 5 x 7 and 4 x 6 and one 11 ½ x 15, all of which will be of Door County scenes with black frames and white matting. Prices will vary from $35 – $95.

The Gallery of the Door County Art League is located at the back of the Top of the Hill Shops at Highway 42 and County F on Spring Road.
