Door County Art Scene: Guenzel Gallery Salon Call for Art

Peninsula School of Art is encouraging artists of every level, and any medium, to participate in the 7th annual Guenzel Gallery Salon, January 7 through January 17. Artwork for display and sale will be accepted on Wednesday and Thursday, January 7 and 8, from 9 am – 4 pm at the school, 3900 County Road F, Fish Creek. Artists may submit up to two pieces, with an entry fee of $10 per work.

In recent years, over 150 works have been entered, with art filling the walls of the school’s Guenzel Gallery in authentic salon, floor-to-ceiling style. According to Executive Director Cathy Hoke-Gonzales, the Guenzel Gallery Salon offers something for everyone.

"Artists who may have never shown in a gallery before have the opportunity to have their work seen, well-known artists have a venue for their work during the off-season, and the public is invited to all Salon happenings – free of charge," she says.

The Gallery Salon culminates with a party on Saturday, January 17, from 6 – 9 pm. In addition to complimentary refreshments, Isadoora Theatre Company will present scenes from their new musical, She Loves Me, a Tony Award-winning romantic comedy. Readings of original works by local poets will also be featured.
