Door County Eco-aware Trail Run Coming Up

The 2nd Annual “Running Green for Crossroads,” the only eco-aware trail run in Door County, will take place on June 25 starting at 9 am. All of the courses, including a 2K, 5K and 10K trail walk or run, are staged on the woodlands and open fields in and around Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.
Green and recyclable snacks and utensils will be donated by local providers including homemade vanilla ice cream from Schopf’s Dairy View Country Store, homemade granola by The Black Walnut Guest House, and compostable bowls from Glas the Green Coffeehouse. Acoustic music will be provided by Sugar on the Floor Barn Dance Society.
Chip-timing will be provided by Tortoise & Hare Race Management. All preregistered participants will receive a custom-printed, recycled cotton T-shirt co-sponsored by Greens N Grains and a reusable market bag donated by Path and Paddle Outfitters. Evergreen Nursery in Sturgeon Bay will present saplings as participants cross the finish line. There will also be a silent auction and a raffle of numerous additional items.
Female and male winners in the 5k and 10k will be awarded a hand-thrown bowl created by Kris Kolinski of Clay on Steele. Other prizes include a hand-painted award by Theresa Kay- Meredith, maple syrup from Henschel Farms, and locally produced honey from Pam Johnson.
Solo runners can pre-register for $25 each and families can register for $45. Children and seniors are free. Medical services will be provided by Ministry Door County Medical Center.
