Door County Performance: “Mouse Waiting” is All About Friends

Evergreen Theatre, formerly Next Door Theatre, returns to Third Avenue Playhouse with their production of Mouse Waiting, written and directed by local children’s author Colleen Neuman. One performance is scheduled on Saturday, January 24 at 2 pm.

Mouse sits on a bench. Waiting. Alone and maybe lonely, too. Then Dog comes along. Dog is outgoing, gregarious, knows everyone and everyone knows him. Dog introduces himself to Mouse who remains intent on her waiting. Then Dog’s acquaintances begin to appear – Ferret who is glum, Toad who organizes parades, Swan who creates fantastic hats, Rat who has a profound case of the hiccups, Crow who has a terrible memory but tells wonderful jokes. Dog draws Mouse into each of these funny and lively encounters. Mouse joins in, reluctantly at first, then not so reluctantly, then happily. Turns out, Mouse was waiting for Dog all along.

Through the fun and magic of live musical theatre, Mouse Waiting celebrates making friends and teaches important lessons about being kind to those around us.
