Door County Talks, The Fourth Wall at DCA This Week

Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will kick off its annual Door County Talks series Feb. 3, 10 am, with a morning lecture by Dr. Charles Jacobs titled “Wisconsin Elections and the Supreme Court.”

Jacobs is  a professor of public law, judicial process and American politics at St. Norbert College. His talk will be informed by his work with his colleague and previous DCA lecturer Dr. Wendy Scattergood.

The lecture is free, but donations are encouraged. The talk will include a short break and a Q&A session with the speaker. Coffee and baked goods will be available for purchase.

Next up at DCA is a performance by performing-arts troupe The Fourth Wall on Feb. 9, 7 pm.

The Fourth Wall puts a vaudevillian twist on classical chamber music with a unique variety show, “Fruit Flies Like a Banana.” During the show, the audience chooses the order of over 20 pieces for a fast-paced arts experience: Chopin performed on hoverboards, Satie performed while hanging upside down, Joplin performed on plastic boomwhacker tubes, and tangos where the musicians are also the dancers.

The Fourth Wall. Submitted.

Part chamber music group, part theater company, part modern dance troupe and part circus act, The Fourth Wall blends music, acting, dance, and acrobatics into a new hybrid, reinterpreting classic repertoire to make music that leaps off the stage.

Interested parties can call DCA for details about daytime student matinees and workshops Feb. 7-9.

Tickets cost $25-48. Special student tickets are available for $20. Advance ticket purchase is recommended.

Tickets can be purchased in person, on the phone at 920.868.2728 or online at www.dcauditorium.org. The box office is open Monday through Friday, 12-5 pm.

DCA is located at 3926 state Highway 42 in Fish Creek.
