Door County Y Volleyball

The winter is nearly upon us, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to go into hibernation mode. One way to get off the couch is the Door County Y’s winter volleyball league.

The Monday night league started play about five years ago with four teams, and last year it grew to 16 teams. Ben Rikkola, the Y’s Youth and Family Development Director, said the league will be capped at 18 teams this year.

Though Rikkola said it is a “bring your own team league,” he will try to connect individuals with teams if they can’t hook up with a team or organize their own.

The league fee is $200, with an additional fee for non-Y members, and it’s open to men and women over the age of 16. All teams are guaranteed a 10-match season, with games on Monday nights at the Sturgeon Bay Y. The organizational meeting is Nov. 1 at 7 pm. To get registration forms visit the Y or call 920.743.4949.
