Door County YMCA Receives Grant from Target

The Door County YMCA recently announced a partnership with Target in recognition of its efforts to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. This grant will be used to provide supplies for youth arts programs at the Door County YMCA.

This grant funding will allow the Door County YMCA to provide children with more fun and educational options by expanding their class offerings. In addition to the youth sports available, the Door County YMCA youth arts programs are continuing to grow. Some specific programs that will benefit with new supplies include Kinder Make & Shake, Dazzling Dramatics, Puppets on Parade, Dance, Art Extravaganza, and Music, Theatre and Dance Camps.

“The more supplies and materials we have for these programs, the more the children will be able to express themselves and grow their creativity,” said Dori Meyer, Preschool and Family Coordinator. Jamie Stutting, Youth Sports and Teen Director also added that, “this type of funding allows the Door County YMCA to offer more diverse programs to meet the needs and interests of all youth.”

This grant is part of ongoing efforts by Target to strengthen families and communities throughout the country. Since opening its doors, Target has given 5 percent of its income to organizations that support education, the arts, social services and volunteerism. Today that translates to more than $3 million every week.
