Door Habitat Celebrates World Habitat Day with Open House and Concert

On October 6, Habitat for Humanity affiliates across the world will celebrate World Habitat Day in an effort to highlight Habitat’s efforts to eliminate poverty housing. The Door County affiliate of Habitat for Humanity will be celebrating one day earlier on Sunday, October 5 with an open house and a concert.

The open house will showcase their most recent construction project – a two bedroom home located at 4873 Rock Ridge Court in Institute (just west of the baseball diamonds). Refreshments will be available and Habitat volunteers, staff and board members will describe current projects and opportunities for service and support. Please join us in celebrating the completion of Habitat’s 27th home in Door County. The house will be open from 1 – 4 pm on Sunday, October 5.

Immediately following the open house in Institute, Steve Hall, an internationally acclaimed Steinway artist, will return to Sturgeon Bay for his third annual concert to benefit Door County Habitat for Humanity. Hall will play a variety of uplifting music from classical to popular, secular and sacred. The concert will be held at Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church (836 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay), and concert-goers are encouraged to arrive before the scheduled 4 pm start time, as a large turnout is expected. There is no admission charge, but a free will offering will be taken with all proceeds going to Door County Habitat for Humanity.
