Door Shakespeare Presents I Hate Hamlet Reading

Door Shakespeare will present Paul Rudnick’s I Hate Hamlet as part of its reading series Oct. 18, 7 pm, at Woodwalk Gallery, 6746 Cty G in Egg Harbor. The reading follows the summer performance of Hamlet on the grounds of Björklunden.

I Hate Hamlet is about a Los Angeles TV actor and jingle singer, Andrew Rally, who is cast as Hamlet in a New York City production. When he arrives in New York for rehearsals, he discovers that the apartment where he’s to stay was once the home of John Barrymore, the greatest Shakespearean actor of his day. The coincidences that continue summon Barrymore’s ghost to make mischief and guide Rally to the performance of a lifetime.

The reading is free, but donations are appreciated. Patrons must wear masks and show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within the prior 72 hours. The actors will be unmasked.
