Door-Tran was one of seven Rural Development Initiatives honored at the Wisconsin Rural Partners, Inc. event in Stevens Point on May 2. “After hearing about the 29 amazing project nominations throughout the state, it was quite an honor to receive the award on Friday with Amy [Kohnle, Door-Tran board member],” said Pam Busch, Mobility Manager at Door-Tran.

To date, Door-Tran has implemented a half-price travel voucher program, veteran and county-wide volunteer transportation programs, and recently launched a vehicle repair and purchase loan program. Door-Tran also has a strong partnership with the county with the Door 2 Door Rides public transit system.

“Based on the number of services provided in the last five years, I wonder what people did prior to these services? My thought is that they simply were stranded in their homes and unable to get to and from work, shopping, medical, and other important destinations,” said Busch.
