Eagles Top Five-Team Track Meet at Algoma

Southern Door’s track-and-field teams placed first at Tuesday’s five-team meet at Algoma.

The Eagles topped the girls standing with 182 point, followed by Gibraltar (75), NEW Lutheran (36), Algoma (30) and Oconto (17).

Southern Door placed first in 12 of the 18 events. 

The Eagles’ individual winners included: Frankie Nellis in the 100-meter dash (14.09 seconds) and long jump (15 feet, 5 inches); Emma Bousley in the 1600 run (6:12.4) and 3200 run (13:35.89); Elise Jackson in the 100 hurdles (18.83) and 300 hurdles (51.96); Paige Olson in the triple jump (30-1.5); and Danica Neville in the pole vault (7-9).

Southern Door also won all four relay events.

Gibraltar’s girls won four events, which included Hayden Knudson in the 200 dash (30.81) and 400 dash (1:07.32), Aria Nordahl in the 800 run (2:54.61); and Mikala Gorham in the high jump (4-8).

In the boys competition, the Eagles topped the team standings with 179 points, followed by Algoma (69), Gibraltar (35), NEW Lutheran (28.5) and Oconto (24.5).

Southern Door topped 16 of the 18 boys events.

The Eagles individual winners included: Zack Lynch in the 100 dash (12.01) and 200 dash (24.16); Ben Grota in the 1600 run (5:10.14) and 3200 run (10:47.63); Damontrae Meeks in the 110 hurdles (19.32) and 300 hurdles (47.67); Mason Motquin in the 400 dash (58.3); Lucas Conard in the 800 run (2:19.75); Cruz Calvillo in the discus (127-1); Braeden VanRemortel in the high jump (5-10); Grant Pieschek in the pole vault (10-0); Lauden Berg in the long jump (18-10); and Alaric Urban in the triple jump (41-9.5).

Southern Door also won the 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800 relays.

The only first-place finish for Gibraltar’s boys came in the 4×200 relay.
