Fall Primary and Board of Review Scheduled

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors with tid bits of information about goings on in Town Government.

• A reminder that the Fall Primary Partisan Election is August 14. The Town Hall will be open from 7 am to 8 pm for voting.

• The Board of Review will be held on August 29 beginning at 1 pm. Open Book is scheduled August 17 at 1 pm and August 18 at 9 am.

• The Board has approved, with some modifications, the Heritage Road Program and the revised Road Maintenance Policy. The Board decided to disband the Heritage Road Sub-committee and its work will now be handled by the Highway Committee.

On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank the members of the Heritage Road Sub-Committee for their work on developing the program. Members of the sub-committee were Chairman Mike Bahrke, Jim Maronek, Kelly Mazeski, John Wilson, Frank Forkert, Walter Kalms and former member Ann Miller. They devoted many long hours to their task.

The finalized program will be available on the town website as well as the revised Road Maintenance Policy.

• A well-attended special board meeting was held July 26 to reach a decision on Isle View Road. Steven Parent of Baudhuin Engineering and Dan Fedderly of Fedderly Consulting presented the Preliminary Road Design Report that had been developed by Baudhuin.

Questions by members of the Highway Committee and the Town Board were followed by citizen input. Numerous options for paved surface and shoulders were discussed along with issues of clearing, safety and what options are available to towns regarding clearing of trees/vegetation in the right of way. Baudhuin designed the road to meander slightly to help preserve more trees than originally planned.

• The Highway Committee will consider lowering the speed limit to 45 or 35 mph on Isle View. It also will be looking at all town roads and the current set speed limits. Unless posted, state statutes establish 55 mph with town discretion to lower to 45 mph, and lowering beyond 45 mph requires a study on traffic using the road etc.

• A shred fest and electronic recycling day will be held at the Town Hall on October 20.
