Fatal Car Crash in Sevastopol April 23

The Door County Sheriff’s Office reported a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Townline Road and Highway 42 that killed Ruthann Dachelet, 56, of Sturgeon Bay. The accident took place shortly after 8 pm on April 23 on the road bordering the townships of Sevastopol and Egg Harbor. The initial investigation indicates that a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Erika Sandoval-Garcia, 34, of Sturgeon Bay, was traveling westbound on Townline Road. The truck failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and struck a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling southbound on 42. Both vehicles came to rest in a field southwest of the intersection. The driver of the Equinox was transported to Door County Medical Center for suspected minor injuries. In the evening of Wednesday, April 25, the Door County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Medical Examiner’s Office that the driver of the Equinox had died. An autopsy was conducted Thursday, April 26, and the results are pending. Alcohol and speed do not appear to have been factors in this crash.
