Skyler Schopf and Nick Kita have been chosen by the South team coaches to play in the 2014 8-Man All-Star Football game. The game will be held at 7 pm Friday, July 18, in Breitenbach Stadium at Middleton High School. They arrived in Madison on Sunday, July 13, to begin a week of practice to prepare for Friday’s game.
Schopf and Kita were both all-conference selections for Gibraltar High School’s 8-man team in the Great 8 – North Conference. They finished with an overall record of 9-1, and second in their conference with a record of 7-1. They went on to play in the 2nd annual WIAA 8-Man Jamboree on November 2 in Wausau and posted a 46-38 victory over Luck.
Schopf played guard and defensive end and finished the season with 94 tackles and 15 sacks with a total sack loss of 113 yards. Kita played quarterback and linebacker, and finished the season with 2,647 passing yards, 45 passing touchdowns, 485 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.
